Absolutely. Altman is positioned to be minted into the next tech oligarch. Which means most of what's going on with Elon & Google can be explained as competing oligarchs vying to suppress the emergence of competition.

I have a hard time feeling bad for Altman when OpenAI is turning around and supporting regulation that would stifle competition (and potentially open source projects) in the name of “ethics.”
The truth is, Discord is winning more than expected. Toms of companies are using it as the UI for their product. MidJourney is slowly getting out, while others are jumping in.
AI, as we know it, is a scam that’s being perpetrated to further enrich and consolidate more power with these tech companies. Coding isn’t hard, knowing what to code and why is what’s difficult. Once you answer that question coding is just the application of whatever syntax your platform demands. These “ai” tools are just forcing you to learn chatbot prompts on a paywalled app instead of probably open-sourced code for free. You might need fewer people coding in 10 years when and if these things take off, but you’ll still need a team of specialists to write and maintain your organizations scripts “ai prompts”. It’s literally the same thing but now you have to pay Microsoft for the privilege of writing a python function
Now imagine the harm that will be done as all of our AI is controlled by 2 toxic companies :
Microsoft and Google
I agree with Torba on this one. AI is too important to leave to the tech oligarchs
That's why OpenAI has so much money. It is expected to be the tech oligarch.

Altman is the real life Bob Page.
