It’s currently just over halfway through the national jury votes (which are a panel of supposed music industry “experts” from each country), and they’ve almost all sent their votes to both of the non-binary freaks competing (Ireland and especially Switzerland), while giving barely a single vote to a song about drugs and disobeying the law/police (Estonia)…
This coming after the EBU literally kicked the Netherlands out of the contest at the last minute (for “making a threatening gesture at the camera”), Ireland refused to participate in rehearsals, and politics has absolutely dominated the whole affair, including a whole bunch of “jury representatives” boycotting because of Israel…
Even the supposedly “conservative” Eastern European countries are sending their votes to a man in a dress, singing about how he is “neither male nor female”…
Obviously I know approximately what I’m getting into, each year I watch this, but holy shit it is blatant, now…
If Switzerland wins, I might just give up on this absolute bullshit schlockfest, although personally I at least hope that the public vote has better taste than the supposed “experts”…
Holy shit, the freak won.
Despite the public largely voting for something different, enough of them went along with the Globohomo that, combined, it wasn’t possible to override the extremely biased jury vote.
I imagine we’ll get even more “non-binary” and “queer” bullshit, next year, after this result.
Puke.
I'd say cut the cord proverbially speaking, but...
Croatia (An objectively better act by far) will probably be treated as the winner by a lot of people in that case - hell, in a lot of comments for his video there's a lot of people saying things like "Who cares about the jury?". The exact same thing happened last year with Finland winning the public vote but Sweden had too much from the jury to be stopped.
I find it even odder that Israel came second in the televote despite the fact that there is a huge hate for the country. Is it another sign that people are brainwashed by globohomo or a massive protest vote against it?
There's rumors that the scoring system will be changed in the future to give televotes more power, at least.
More than likely. Countries do copy the style of the previous winner. And the EBU has now confirmed via unwritten rule that some political messages are permitted at the contest.
I think as a silver lining, there have been talks about giving the televote more power than the jury.
It's a captured institution with a very thinly veiled 'democratic legitimization'. The 2014 winner wasn't an accident either: 'Cochita Wurst'.
