I've seen hashtags be censored even on Musks twitter. Last June German twitter did the #stolzmonat instead of pride month(literally translates the same, focus was being proud of your country though). There were thousands of tweets and you had to use a 3rd party site to follow the trend, it was permanently in the top 3 for weeks, yet never appeared on twitter itself. They lie to you, nothing really changed.
The hashtag censoring and whatever Twitter OP means by the hit may be real, but as for the check mark, that’s just a standard thing that happens when you change your profile picture. It’s to prevent impersonation. It goes away until someone manually makes sure you haven’t turned your profile into “[Official Group Co.]” with a verification mark on it. KIA2OP just doesn’t know Twitter works that way and made an assumption.
Now, if someone prevents him from getting it back, that’s a different matter.
I thought that based on the previous claim that the blue checkmark had been taken away as some form of punishment. Seems that it is due to them changing their avatar as is policy for a period of time and so the hashtag manipulation thing is the only thing that seems to count.
Stopping hashtags from trending is behaviour from before Elon bought Twitter and so for this hashtag to no longer be suggested while typing it in is a form of manipulation.
Apparently it's an old trick to remove hashtags from trending. That's why the Stellar Blade hastag stopped trending.
But yeah, whoever is in the system as having removed Groomz blue checkmark is likely to be looking for a new job before the week is out.

Why do you think that?

How and why is another story we don't yet know.
That happened to me when I edited my now wrongfully banned MAIN twitter account.
If I get my account back I will never pay for a subscription on that site again.
None of that makes any sense to me, but I'm glad you've figured it out.
