Same with Hollywood movies. If a studio wants to make a space opera where the protagonist is a Mary Sue, they should just make their own IP. But no, they had to destroy Star Wars. Or a Sci-Fi where robots travel back in time to kill a teenage girl who threatens their plans, they should make their own IP. But no, they had to destroy Terminator.
