How many bad Ninja and Samurai movies have been made with that exact premise? Blood sport, 3 Ninjas, American Ninja, Shogun, Last Samurai are the ones I can remember.

Bloodsport isn't a Samurai movie. American Ninja is about ninjas not samurai. And Cruise isn't a Samurai in The Last Samurai. Keanu Reeves isn't a Samurai in 47 Ronin.

I didn't watch the original Shogun or read the books so I can't comment on white samurai in that.
