I'd want everything to stay the same but the story. I played a bit into it with the Japanese version(my Japanese is still not up to snuff but getting there) and quite a bit is different. Knowing the state of translations today it would turn out like shit. I don't even mind frog sounding like he ate a book on Shakespeare, I just want some of them Nintendo of America censorship out like what was in the SNES version. Other than that literally don't change anythin, even though I have my minor gripes with the SNES version I still think it is one of the best games out there.
No Shakespeare speech, general language is the same... Ish. But mentions of religion or alcohol at the time got changed since Nintendo of America did not like to have those mentioned to kids. Chrono Trigger is still similar in the Japanese with just some changes. Language in general is different from English so obvouisly there's differences too numerous to mention. My main issue is the Nintendo of America changes for me, I find those odd.
Oh I see, yeah they were pretty strict with games at the time.
Thanks. Btw your comment inspired me to look for the details myself and I found these gamefaqs that might be useful to you/someone:
Also found the whole script on someone's blog but the ridiculous page color makes it impossible to read. I would have to extract all this to a text file first to make use of it.

I never played the Japanese version. What are some of the biggest differences?
