Not exactly a new trend either, and I wouldn't be surprised if it's become more common in recent years. Network and broadcast TV in general is essentially on life support, with terminal death somewhere on the horizon.

But yeah, 10 seasons, though it stops being actually watchable without becoming pure cringe around… Season 6, or 7. After that it… Never recovered.
