"WOULD YOU LIKE TO KNOW MORE?" This is a movie made by the same director as Robocop, of course its being tongue in cheek about militarism. I remember the humans are colonizing space but I can't remember if it's stated humans are invading bug territory or if it's the bugs invading humans.
The former. Were the bugs even space-capable? I don't remember any actual evidence of the bugs being behind the destruction of Buenos Aires.
Yes, they had a whole interplanetary empire. The Federation declared the entire Bug empire a quarantine zone to try to prevent any conflict between them and the Bugs. Some independent human groups (darn you Mormons!) breaking off from the Federation chose to settle within the quarantine zone. After they were wiped out, the Federation government broadcast footage of these attacks, telling people to stay the heck out of the quarantine zone, and took no offensive actions until Buenos Ares.
At least two separate asteroids originate in Bug space, on a course for Earth. The first one clips a Federation ship and continues on it's course straight at Buenos Ares. The second one was aimed at South Africa before missile batteries blew it up. I'm sure that's just a coincidence though.
No, the humans 'say' they have an empire, what we see is a handful of planets that were already occupied by the bugs god knows how many years ago.
There's thousands of asteroids in the galaxy heading 'for earth', they just stumbled across one of the endless ones that would've missed earth by a million miles anyways.
CGI propaganda, bugs do not have the knowledge or capability to launch FTL asteroids at planets they've never heard of before.
Brain bugs? Frankly, I find the idea of a bug that thinks offensive.
