Why We're Not on Amazon - Vox Popoli
Don’t expect to find Castalia House books on Kindle anytime soon. The action that was in violation of Amazon’s Terms and Conditions was attempting to publish the Kindle edition of A THRONE OF BONES. They kept asking us to provide a letter from the previous...
Kindle's ecosystem sucks, their censorship sucks, and their monetization sucks. Amazon/KDP pays the lowest percentage of any publisher, and the Big Three are already close to Vegas mobsters for how hard they drive a bargain. To give you an example, traditional publishers take 85-92% of the book's purchase price, and KDP take about 70-80% just for printing your book out. No cover art assistance, no editing, no formatting help, no publicity, no agent... just sending your book to a machine that prints it, binds it, and spits it out.
It's also the only option for publishing ebooks and actually making serious money off of them. There's basically nobody buying ebooks off of Smashwords or any other retailer compared to Amazon to a degree that it's not worth even clicking the submit button.
“We’re keeping your money, thanks suckers.”
We need a president and government that will treat these companies the way they deserve.
Sounds like a monopoly lawsuit in the making.
Daily reminder vox day is neglecting infogalactic by not allowing new registrations so people can start mirroring wikipedia, and therefore the site needs a replacement.
Oh, and the gamergate wiki archive is currently failing due to technical issues and drybones needs to be contacted about this.
Why anyone would trust Vox to be within a mile of a serious business undertaking or public project is beyond me.
Still, I continue to be amazed at the triumph of the press over observable facts. Perhaps the problem is with me?
Been at that game for decades. Just back in the 2000s it was partly on behalf of the publishers
