Yeah Hollywood have run out of any clue on how to proceed so are scraping what they can.
Its why Marvel is hoping Ryan Reynolds Deadpool with Wolverine is enough to salvage the franchise (it isn't but might be at least a good film, like how No way home was good but didn't salvage MsheU)
Or how they recognised their actors talking was an issue so went to a franchise where they couldn't.
Deadpool 3 will be the last even semi-watchable Marvel movie, they're going to completely blow it on the Fantastic Four and then they're down to Avengers movies without any of the cast anybody actually liked from the good Marvel movies.
You know they're in trouble when they're remaking Twister.
It's a sequel. Hence the s at the end of Twister.
I'm not sure that makes it better.
At least it doesn't have sharks in it? ;)
It doesn't help that bloated budgets (aka Hollywood addicted to cooking the books) has obliterated the ability for studios to take risks, causing an explosion of sequels and prequels because those are considered safer bets.
With the state set, you get the one-two punch of diversity hires with an agenda who believe you can like their slop if they replace whatever you liked, and the dumb suits who think blindly checking off boxes will maximize profits.
Japan made Godzilla Minus One for 15-20 million, or if you want to go slightly higher budget, the Indian movie RRR cost about $70 million and has much cooler stunts and CGI shots than current Marvel movies.
Yeah the Minus One had damn good graphics for its budget. Not perfect, but I saw a trailer for the next Godzilla x Kong movie which has a budget of like $250 million and it looked like retarded shit.
Godzilla Minutes One also managed to make a movie where I was invested in the human characters. Whether it's Transformers, Jurassic World, or Godzilla, Hollywood can't make me give a fuck about their shitty human characters.
Yeah based on the leak of Disney's diversity policies, I don't think it's possible for a good movie to come out of their studios now. Not without THE MESSAGE plastered all over it, of course.
Arguably the gaming industry is a couple of years ahead, they've been more overt than hollyweird
