I’ve literally been on Reddit for the past few days reading posts like that, albeit mainly on r/SquaredCircle, but I have seen that post, and the top post does explain shit rather well.
The hilarious thing is there are people trying to say this is a work, but those people are the same idiots who thought the Yes Movement was a work, when we have verifiable fact that it isn’t.
Edit: A work, for those who don’t know wrestling terms would mean that what happened and the reaction to it was planned by WWE and the Rock. It wasn’t. The fact is that Dwayne thought that he would be “saving” WrestleMania, and this was part of his terms for joining TKO’s board. They weren’t expecting him to be this hated. Cody Rhodes right now is essentially in the same position that John Cena was back in the late 2000s and early 2010s, except kids and adults like him.
I see that but like I said before I’m pumped about the Rock. Granted I’m older and my favorite time for wrestling is 80s through ruthless aggression. I still watch and enjoy but don’t have the same engagement. I know Cody is the hot name now and I think whether it’s planned or not this makes him even hotter. I stopped going in the wrestling subreddit because I don’t relate as well to the younger and modern wrestling fan. I’m in the attitude era or 80s groups lol.
Really? I’m loving it. Granted I’m 43 now and 80s through ruthless aggression is my favorite time as a wrestling fan. I still watch and like the product but not as much as before. I wish Cody had won last year but Rock is one of my all time favorite wrestlers so I’m always happy to see him. I accept that I do kinda live in the past as a wrestling fan and get why some fans are mad. I have friends coming over who have watched in years because Rock is involved at mania
The problem is that basically everyone younger than about 30 only knows The Rock as an actor who has it in his movie contracts that he can’t lose a fight. Him as a wrestler isn’t even in their minds, plus he’s literally doing this because he yanked his reputation in Hollywood with Black Adam and needed to find a way to salvage it.
Cody Rhodes like I said earlier is basically in peak Cena territory in terms of how popular he is. But I do blame some of this on Punk getting injured, as Punk staying healthy solves a lot of this issue.
Yep and Cody winning at last mania. But yea I’m an “old head” now so I recognize that I’m not the target audience. I rewatch stuff from those previous eras I mentioned
The problem isn't really with Rock vs Roman, it's how they booked it. Cody's whole gimmick is coming back to win the title his daddy never could. He lost last year, so the fans have been primed for him to finally win. He won the Rumble to win an automatic shot at Wrestlemania, and he hands it to the Rock?
Narrativly and character wise the move makes little sense. The fact Rock was named to the board of TKO recently is also a bad look.
I know. Cody should’ve won last year. I get the long game but wow. I’m pumped to see the Rock. In my other comment I acknowledged that my favorite time as a fan is 80s through ruthless aggression so I don’t have the same excitement as I used to even though I still watch. Hopefully they can resolve this. The rock does bring eyeballs whether young fans like it or not. I have some friends coming over to watch mania now who have watched wrestling since attitude or RE
Also it’s smart of Rock to get involved behind the scenes and return to his roots. I always hoped he would. But yea Cody is in that prime Cena/Rock/Austin/Hogan territory although in my life I’ve never seen anyone as hot as Hogan or Austin/Rock

Thanks. I’ll check it out
No prob. I swear, Dwayne running back to WWE to try and save his reputation just feels fishy
Oh, you have NO IDEA just how pissed WWE fans are at him right now.
Here's a Reddit post explaining the situation.
