I really hope that one shareholder takes over. If I had my way I’d fire everyone involved with Star Wars
To be honest, I think we should just resign ourselves that Star Wars will not come back. Disney is full of activists already, just changing leadership will not change much.
There is also some political innocence in older movies that I don't think we're getting back anytime soon.
True and I have a ton of EU books and comics and still plenty I haven’t read yet
Do you have any EU book suggestions?
I've heard there's a lot of good and bad in the extended universe and have no clue where to start.
The best place to start I’d say is the Thrawn Trilogy by Zahn. First book is Heir to the Empire. Starts out around 5 years after the events of ROTJ. There are a lot of books but that would be the first I’d suggest. Plus there are books in Prequel era, old republic era, during OT era, and post ROTJ.
If you like the starfighter combat, read the X-Wing series. The final book in the series is essentially the writers having a sendoff of their characters before Lucas sold off the IP and killed the EU.
I'd say start with thrawn as well, if you want to start in canonical time the book you want is 'Truce at Bakura'. Also check out the 'Jedi Academy Trilogy' for what I feel would've been an excellent sequel trilogy if you cut out a few of the elements that didn't work and my personal favorites. the tales from Mos Eisley/Jabbas Palace/Bounty hunters/Imperium and Rebbellion, a short story anthology series which give a good ground view of life in the star wars EU.
Idk why people are so obsessed with star wars. It was a sci-fi trilogy from the 70s. It's not some permanent and everlasting monolith we must adhere to for eternity.
It is a fun setting that had a lot of passion behind it. It was the original trilogy that was a big hit but it also spawned a ton of books and some great games.
KOTOR 1 &2 and Jedi Outcast and Academy are great.
It is not just the movies but all the passion and love from fans that made it great. People don't realize that the original trilogy, while a very nice movie the plot itself is not some masterpiece.
Then somehow, because there was this great passion behind it normies became "fans", they did not know characters, did not read any books, did not play the games, some times they did not even watch the original movies but they did have several SW T-shirts and a mug.
Disney had a great opportunity to make an epic series that would have remained in history, but they didn't, they made trash. And we are here now.
In truth, very few of us older fans still care, I don't, Smith1980 still does and hopes we will get some cool EU story or some old republic trilogy. I don't care but I do want Disney to be held accountable for ruining a hobby that I cared about.
Always has sentimental value for me since it was my first “nerd interest growing up”. I still read the old books but no longer have Disney plus so don’t follow it. As for sci-fi books I love the golden age.
I get it. I liked Star wars as a kid too. But it's weird when adults are so attached to it.
I am not happy with Disney ofc. Pretty sad they deface everything.
Good point. Let real fans make additions to it
As AI tools get better we'll be seeing full movies with all the original cast. Like the Thrawn Trilogy that perfectly represents the book
Check out what Darth Angelus is doing on YouTube. He is making an animated Heir to the Empire
