Over the years I've amassed quite a few Reacher and Jason Bourne books. I was wondering with Reacher if you have to read the books in order, or are the stories pretty self contained? I do plan on watching the show eventually.

You can read them out of order. I have and there's not much self references that I recall. I think there's some with a relationship that connects some but outside of that, no must read x to get y type of stuff
Thanks. Does that go for the Bourne books as well? I would imagine Terminal List probably needs to be read in order
The original Bourne books need to be read in order. I didn't know any existed outside of the original 3 that I read, so I can't speak beyond that.
The Terminal List needs to be read in order. Things link together, especially the first 2. I haven't made it past 3 yet, but even that requires some knowledge because of callbacks.
Yeah after the author died there were a lot there were a lot of "Robert Ludlum's Bourne" books that released with different authors.
Thanks!
I haven't read any Bourne or Terminal List. I read about eight Reacher books. So I'm no Reacher expert. That's my disclaimer if the books are more connected than I remembered.
I've read 16. They're not very connected except maybe the first few books. The more the series went on the more self contained each book got
You can read the books out of order, you will not miss out on anything (I haven't read all). There is some fan list afaik going around that puts them into chronological order if that's your thing.
Personally I would just recommend you to read what sounds interesting to you. Would start with the first one, since you do have the series for that and it was a decent/good series considering it's the current days.
