The whole thing is just so soulless, the project succeeded because Eric July is black and the "counter culture" crowd desperately wanted to prove that they're not racist.

I thought they were ok. I’m interested enough to see what happens. I hope his writing improves and that he can take criticism. Shouldn’t have the mindset of liking something because someone is black.
I have Alphacore but haven’t read it yet but obviously Chuck Dixon is a legend. I hope he is giving lessons to Eric. I also hate that him and EVS had a fallout. I would’ve listened to EVS. The guy knows about comics
I wish Yaboi Zac had listened to EVS rather than go and be a hermit to avoid the drama.
What did he tell Yaboi Zac? I do hate that there is so much drama
EVS reviewed some of Yaboi Zack's Splato comics after they came out.
He was pretty disappointed. In the second outing of the Jawbreakers Zac killed them all in a last stand against a Super badguy with god-like powers.
EVS was saying "This is terrible! People want to read stories about your jawbreakers, and you have killed them all!"
Zack (later) said: "Ah, whoops. We can fix that?"
I don't know if he did, but people don't give a shit about prequels, so he had better pull something out of his ass.
At the same time EVS was reviewing the comic with art by Narwhal and colors by Zack. Narwhal, has a quick, lose style. The comic was a bit political about life in an authoritarian SF thing. The art looked more or less unfinished.
EVS said "This isn't professional level art". He was right, it wasn't.
He ponted out that he could have given Zack art reviews, corrections, etc. Help even. He also said: "People want more Jawbreakers. Just do more Jawbreakers stories!"
And he was right. Zack made a bunch of mistakes, most of which could have been avoided with advice from EVS.
That said, Zack has been literally terrorized by stalkers and has developed a severe allergy to DRAMA. EVS seems to consistently be at the center of a massive DRAMA shit-storm.
That said, EVS is really a top-tier comic artist. He actually knows his shit. Writing comics isn't easy.
A lot of this recent drama is YellowFlash's fault. He rage quit the ComicsGate Twitter community room and nuked it on the way out pissing a lot of people off. Then it came to light that YF hasn't paid his artist for 7 months, because despite saying his book will be released in November 2023 he hasn't even started crowdfunding for it. (It should be noted that YF is one of these morons that likes to constantly criticize EVS about late books) In the meantime his artist's house floods pretty badly and is now forced to live in their back yard in a camper. All of this with no income. Plus he was unable to have a Christmas with his family because he wasn't being paid.
EVS rightfully criticized YF about how bullshit the situation is. Eric July got involved because YF went running to him for cover. EVS was paid to review EJ's books and he said they were shit (they are) and EJ melted down over it. He even ran from a discussion with EVS on Alex Stein's show, which he initially agreed to, because he didn't like that it was being called a debate.
YBZ took an almost month break from YouTube, because Eric July said if you have late books you shouldn't be making videos. When, its prob better to keep making videos promoting, just focus on wasting less time. YBZ is a self-admitted TikTok addict, so he may just have been taking a complete internet break, but only relayed the YouTube hiatus.
I don't know what YBZ's channel monetisation is like, but it's my understanding that the comics pay the bills. Getting caught up on products that people have already paid you for is good advice if you want them to keep pre-ordering your books.
