I may get flak for this, but I think the same thing happened to Jordan Peterson.
While he's always been involved in academia and the UN, he was really the first mainstream person to stand up against what we now call the Woke. Until he took a stand on C-16, there was literally zero pushback on trannies in schools, BLM reparations, systemic misandry, etc.
Then he went on tour for two years with (((Dave Rubin))) and in that time he 1) gets addicted to bennies, 2) nearly dies trying to get off bennies and likely would have if he hadn't sought treatment outside of the West, then 3) joins Ben Shapiro's Zionist Right Network and starts seriously carrying water for Israel, including a three hour interview with Netanyahu where he lets all of Bibi's Zionist talking points pass without comment, then puts out a message calling for Muslims to "do better".
I don't think guys like Peterson and Musk are being bribed (at least not solely), I think they're being threatened. I think Zionists like Shapiro and Rubin are part of a network that has the capability to directly threaten them and their families.
I don't think a smart guy like Musk went to a death camp/amusement park like Auschwitz and realized the horrors of anti-semetism, I think they sat him down and demonstrated exactly what would happen to the people he loves if he doesn't fall in line...
To nitpick a little, standing up against C-16 and coerced speech MADE Peterson mainstream.
Before that, he was just a mopey Toronto professor crying on Canadian government television.
It was the REEEing from dangerhairs that got him on Joe Rogan and got the ball rolling.
I don't know why you'd get flak.
I loved JBP's Genesis talks. I didn't even bother with his Exodus, starring Prager series. Someone sent me a clip from a roundtable where Prager straight up says he would rather bludgeon people with the holocoaster than be right with God. JBP doesn't push back even a little.
