This is so many strawmen and speculative claims piled up I don't know where to begin.
>Solar panels don't work in the cold?
Is this true? Is anyone making this claim? Did fox news make this claim? When? Were they quoting someone?
>ISS solar panels
Those are not the same as commercial rooftop solar panels. When you're putting something in space, the launch and installation cost dwarfs the material cost, so generally no expense is spared on the material side. These would be the top quality panels available at the time they were installed.
>Space is cold
Yeah in the dark, but not in the sunlight. The back side of the panels are dark of course. I have no idea what the thermodynamics of space station solar panels are.
Fully untangling this one bullshit image would take hours of research.
The inverse is actually true, and panels significantly lose efficiency as they heat up. Not sure where the cold claim came from. But, as you go on to say, those panels in space are different, and I'm not sure how they compare.
It strikes me as the "I was only half-listening" response that Leftists make to every single conservative argument. I bet it was something about bad weather conditions, like in the winter, seriously hampering a solar panel's ability to function and for its associated batteries to retain charge. The Leftist was not paying attention properly and decided this """meme""" was an impressive riposte.
