I'm noticing a trend where Desantis supporters think they're smarter than everyone else....almost like dems do

I think that's part of the point. OP (and I) are calling out the argument style, not necessarily the argument itself. People can believe what they want, and I don't hate people who want DeSantis. But Correia's argument does come off as elitist and manipulative, in my opinion. It's a silly and somewhat underhanded argument, that reeks of superiority. I'm admittedly biased, but still, I don't like how this comes off.
Why do you imagine dialectic does anything at all? Rhetoric is all that matters.
Eh, caustic asshole talk rolls right off my back I guess so can overlook his tone. I hate manipulative though, so if he's being manipulative I'd prefer to call him out for that directly. Are the people he's (vaguely) claiming are happy not actually happy? Call him a tard for that by all means.
But if we're bothering with tone, I dislike the "Ooooh, mr bigshot thinks he's so smart doesn't he fellas?" tone of the post's title even more than smug asshole tone of Larry. I don't like that slope down to performative ignorance. If I think I'm obviously smarter than someone I'd like to preserve the right to respectably rub it in their faces and vice versa.
