Rule of thumb, the more spent on the wedding the more likely the marriage is to fail.
You put on a huge production so you never want to do it again, to gloat to unmarried friends, for the attention and fealty, or whatever other reason having nothing to do with loving your spouse.
I spent a grand total of zero dollars on my wedding and had nine guests, all family. Turns out we're just as married as people who spent five figures.
And you saved a 5 figure sum that could be spent on something more productive, like a house down payment or investing. Extravagant weddings are such a waste even if the couple is getting married for the right reasons and it really is till death do us part.
Yeah we put 20 percent down on a house less than 2 years later
