To the point of the post, it's because of the huge academic/medical establishment where we allow blame to be collectivized (only looking at the systemic flaws) and we don't hold individuals personally responsible for their professional actions. It's nice that doctors are being sued here but even if the women succeed, I doubt we'll see anything remotely the same for COVID. The pharmacist at Walgreens was just doing their job. Your family doctor was just "following the science".

Nothing over the centuries has given a reason to trust doctors unquestionably.
It absolutely boggles me that this stuff just keeps happening.
