But seriously I always scream when I hear my local news report about food deserts in certain areas but never examines why businesses won’t move into those areas.
I live in a food desert. 2mi in all directions, not one supermarket. Then again, I live rural, so that makes total sense, but I don't get why they whinge so much at needing to walk an hour for groceries. I'll go out and bike it, even in winter, oftentimes.
I had a great aunt and uncle who had a 40 acre farm when I was a kid so they had a rural food desert but they farmed. Granted they went to the nearest store when they had to.
