I don't understand the complaint here. Did they expect some 400 year old classical text about platformer tutorial levels? If you're in a game design lecture, you're not gonna do much better than that egoraptor video.
I'm assuming this is a college level course, in which case it's not a prison, it's a scam. Literally just leave. Spend a year entering game jams, you'll learn so much more.

Know a guy who went to one of those, he's not using his degree for his work now at all, lmao.
Couple things:
First, Arin is a complete idiot. He is his own greatest counter-argument. He'll say in a video that "naturally, the player would do X" but, since he has the situational awareness of a sea sponge, is incapable of doing X. Aside from that, a lot of his points seem to revolve around the idea of the "video game design singularity" in which there is a single way to design a game element and you should only do that.
My other complaint is the fact that these people payed money to be shown a fucking Youtube video that you or I can watch right now. The only difference is they don't have the added benefit of leaving drunken, racial insults in the comments as they watch it.
