Viking chad got both blackwashed and gender-swaped by morrons who don't know how traditional Scandinavian names worked ( and still work like that in Iceland ).
Yes, daughters had -dottir after the name instead.
The -son and -sen suffixes made their way into English, but -dottir didn't make the cut for some reason.
The -dottir lines would have been short-lived because they'd either get married and be changed or not get married and die childless, most likely.
