Ukraine will run out of people faster than Russia. Ukraine needs to look for peace even if that means they lose land. Lets be honest, they no longer have the population for those lands anyways.
The lives of Ukrainian people are more important than the land and Zelensky's megalomaniac larp. Alternatively he can get his ass on the front and fight like he wants everyone else to do.
But "Western support"--that is, the coordinated effort of US neocons to fuck Russia over by intervening in a territorial dispute--was the entire reason Putin invaded in the first place.
America queered negotiations because our feckless "leaders" need a Russian bogeyman to keep munitions profits rolling in. I would not be surprised if the entire thing was intended to discredit Trump's attempt to normalize US-Russian relations.
Like most Russian "victories", they are phyrric at best

That's only true if Ukraine keeps trying stupid "counter offensives". Slow coordinated retreats and guerilla tactics would be more effective.
That or assaulting Russian territory weak points, which nato has forbidden them to do.
Frankly I think they would have been better rejecting western support and fighting dirty from the start.

So...like the Obama/McFaul "reset" plan? That's arguably what got things into the mess it's in now.
