The entire reason pizzagate started was because there was an overwhelming amount of suspicious and wild shit that had no "innocent" explanation possible. It was all smoke, so there wasn't anything concrete enough to build a true theory on though.
So the conclusion was "debunked" because it might have been completely off the mark, but they never actually explained what all the horrific shit that led to the theory was in the first place and treat the debunking as absolving all of that as well.
One of the few retrospective takes about it that is fair, accurate and not hyperbolic. I remember the wikileak emails coming each night and the continual stream of weird shit they talked about.
