So long as you stick to the teachings and philosophy of Christianity and NOT the institution as that's been on any level higher than local, corrupted to hell.
As I've said many times, there are many people that go and say their atheists without developing philosophically what that means, only the surface level of 'there is no god or afterlife'.
Thought of a good example, remember Altaïr Ibn-LaʼAhad from the first Assassin's Creed and how arrogant and foolish he was acting because he took 'nothing is true, everything is permitted' at face value? That is a lot of people in the west currently, they are so at a surface level that they use atheism as an excuse to not take responsibility where at least in religion they would be labelled as sinful for their actions.
I think that's just a problem of the human condition. The people who think X is fine because JAYSUS would still think X is fine if they were believers in Liberalism or the Torah or any other belief system.
We really can't annihilate instinctual behaviors, only curb them. Whether that's by social pressures or carefully controlled institutions, both of which are easily disrupted themselves when we stop being closed tribal societies and try to be global.

I was about to say, modern "Christianity" isn't any better...
