Something shifted to the point where being mean became taboo.
You'll still find plenty of mean on the internet. From the same respect and tolerant people who buy into this.
It's just that we let people insane themselves into thinking they're something they are not.
You can't have kids dress as certain things for one day on halloween, and you can't have them do something permanent like a tattoo until they're 18 because it's permanent, but they can change from male to female at age 12 because they know.
Shit, yesterday I didn't even know what I was going to make for breakfast today.
For decades now, we've been told to treat mentally ill people with compassion. This was done under the assumption that they were seeking professional help and trying to become well again. We were supposed to be patient with them, treat them with kid's gloves until they were ready to rejoin the society, with the rest of the normal people.
Clearly this is no longer the case. The nutjobs have completely deluded themselves into thinking their insanity is a legitimate biological category of the human species, a completely unique D&D race. They have rejected all help, they have ceased trying to get well again and are devoted to being as big a disruption to society as they can.
Sure, some people (those still brainwashed by the OCD need to always choose the blue paragon dialog choices) will say "That just means they need our compassion that much more." But, I don't. I say "Be normal, or be gone."
