I always say archive everything, even from ethical sources. The source being ethical only eliminates some of the problems that archiving solves. Of course if the source is ethical it's better to give a direct link and post the archive in the comments.

I'm always frustrated by people who know about archiving, but sometimes don't do it. Styx is a prime example. He'll archive almost everything, which is great, but then he'll just drop a link sometimes and state it's not archived because XYZ. No, archive it anyway. Drop the unarchived link as well if there's a reason (video, etc.), but you still archive it.
To be fair to him, it's easy to forget, especially if it's something as simple as having a chat with someone on a forum. I remember the Godot forum drama, I should have screeshotted this thread the admin there deleted because it was quite significant proof he was being an insufferable wokester.
However me not realising even in the programming sphere there are seriously unprofessional douches nowadays he up and deleted evidence of his behaviour because he knew it made him look bad. Luckily another autist caught the main bits of it and him deleting the thread but lesson learned. Always be on the alert, deletion of posts by moderators is usually them covering up their own behaviour as well as trying to censor people.
Good practice at archiving it! It must be (((CCP))) censoring it!
:)
It's really sad that archiving has to be standard practice now because even in private conversations lying about people has become that common.

Welcome to nine years ago, but yeah it is pretty disheartening.
