In fairness, IIRC the protestors had enough foresight to block the on-ramps to the area (which is why it's so empty), but this guy was at least partially inebriated and drove up the off-ramp to get to the interstate.
I can't blame them for moving into the car's path, I think they made a snap judgement that the car was moving towards the berm, and that's what they were running from; but he swerved around the car successfully, putting them in his path.
No one here had malicious intent, but they were all very stupid.

Apparently yes, but I mostly remembered that the 'protesters' LITERALLY moved to be in the car's path.

It was Seattle near the U District. We had so many 'protests' blocking streets it became part of the traffic report.
Okay, malicious intent to cause physical damage to people.
