The funny thing is, they are plausibly correct in that ancient Briton's may have had darker skin. however they're making a very American mistake by conflating skin color with ethnic origin. to my knowledge, sub-Saharan Africans did not make it to the British isles until trade and conquest opened up in the world became more well traveled. even then, for centuries a sub-Saharan African in the British isles would have been rare and unique.
Everything I’ve read says the same thing about Sub-Saharan ppl in England back then would’ve been very rare. Until now, because to justify ridiculous period pieces today they have essays that claim it was always diverse
