Hmmm, mixed feelings on this. On one hand, good on the director for removing current year political shit from the game and saying he wants "everyone to enjoy the game," with what sounds like an implication that he means people who aren't part of the "modern audience" that everything needs to cater to nowadays. But on the other hand...it was still in there, which tells me the studio is compromised, and the game might be too in other ways. Maybe this was an honest attempt to stamp current year shit out of his product that some rogue employer put in and Choi is just playing nice with the gay commies at Kotaku, but it's impossible to tell.
Regardless, I've got plenty of Soulsborne games to get through, including Elden Ring, so it'll be a while before I get the urge to pick Lies of P up.
It wasn't "ACAB" it was "APAB" -- All Puppets Are Bastads. I don't know who it's making fun of it? Is it a tribute to ACAB or mocking ACAB? Don't know! I would actually bet the antifa acab types are the ones who would get their panties in a twist over this.
It doesn't matter what it's directed at, the very fact that it tried to invoke that CURRENT FUCKING DAY imagery says everything that needs to be said about the developer mindset.
I mean yeah, "Current day" fades fast and in 10 years people will be like "what does that even mean?" This doesn't feel like a big deal to me. Is this game supposed to be historically immersive?
When Beamdog released Baldur's Gate EE and they gave Minsc, using the original voice actor even, a dumb line about Gamergate. I wrote and just said it felt inappropriate for the setting. They removed the line. Beamdog and Trent Oster are huge SJWs, most of their new additions suck, but kudos to them for that.

Yeah, like they did with "Aug Lives Matter."
Still, I agree with other people, I'm just sick of [Current Year] stuff in general. Kind of sad, as little nods like that can be funny but, yeah, just leave it out at this point. Even if it's a joke and "not political" I don't really feel like seeing "ACAB" (or any other Modern™ stuff) referenced in games, especially in a time period or setting where it would feel out of place.

Pinocchio what?
It's referring to the game "Lies of P," which is a dark take on the Pinocchio story set in a Soulsborne game.
We truly run out of creativity as a society haven’t we.

Still better than tranny flags and stuff though.
