As someone who works in a major corporation, what's truly going on is that executive level people are either out-of-touch (but into the propaganda) or they're aware but just trying to ride the gravy train as long as they can before things fall a part.
The problem is that all these leftist people are going to school and getting taught all this leftist crap. HR departments are convinced D&I adds significant value to corporations because that's what they are taught. It's almost like a virus that starts to effect each corporation and executives that fight against it have their careers ruined so the executives just go with it.
It's not saving anyone any money. It's costing companies significant amounts of money because they're hiring untalented people but paying them as if they were talented because it's the only way to get talented people too. Or if they are paying less than they can't get talented people. This D&I stuff that has infected every major corp is leading to reduced quality in all aspects of what these companies do. It's most definitely not helping them make more money. Some executives know it but can't do anything about it. As long as the company pays the CEOs paycheque and shareholders aren't firing them, then they're happy. Nothing else matters.
But also the third one is mandated by the state and/or coercion.
And the first one is mandated by the shareholders.
I envision most teams at this point are comprised of about equal parts “totally useless diversity hires who contribute no value to the project” and “competent white/Asian dudes who are being tasked with 200% work for the same shit pay”. Anyone who is both diverse and competent is making seven figures as a team leader at some Fortune 500 company. Anyone who is white/Asian and legitimately talented has fled the companies to go into business for himself. All the big teams are hemorrhaging money with a combination of diverse saboteurs and criminally overworked white dudes.
That’s why there are three traits and not just two. You can find diverse and competent workers, but they are so rare - and competition for their services is so high - that they can command ridiculous salaries. So you can’t have competent and diverse employees without blowing up your budget.
