The 1st amendment is obvious. The problem with American politics is that people keep violating the constitution, knowingly, and then pretending as if they just weren't certain if it was a violation. Then it takes years for the courts to confirm it was indeed a violation.
There needs to be punishments for violating the constitution. The federal government should be on the hook to give every American $100,000 in damages for this violation. Yes, that might bankrupt the government. That's the point.

The problem is who is going to punish them? And would "the watchers" ever punish themselves as well?
Technically, the courts could since courts can dish-out punishments for violations of the law. Willingly violating the constitution is treason.
Tree of Liberty, etc, etc...
Giving me my own taxpayer's money seems a rather trite punishment.
Personally I'd rather have a scalp.
