The irony here is that this stubborn unwillingness to face the truth about Trump is a big factor in the MAGA deplorability. Having the humility and grace to let liberals be right about Trump would crack open the door to the possibility there are other things liberals are right about, from the facts of history to vaccines to climate change. Republican voters aren't really the dead-eyed zombies DeSantis invoked. But it may be something worse: Millions of grown adults slamming their hands over their ears and singing loudly, "nah nah I can't hear you."
I really can't get over how far journalism has deteriorated. I know it is Salon but still, my God is this bad.
So it sounds like MAGA has a good reason to be stubborn; they’ve rightly surmised that their opponents are children who will take a mile if they’re given an inch. “You admit I was right about X? That means I’m right about EvErYtHiNg!”
The funny thing is this works in reverse. If you can get a liberal to realize they've been lied to, often it has a cascading effect that brings down the entire house.
That's what happened to me. I realized the media had outrageously lied about benghazi. In my mind we were the good guys, we don't lie about anything, it's all pure truth. So in a desperate attempt to debunk the truth about benghazi, I learned so many other things I thought were true were nonsense as well.
You realized it, you had a passion filled desperate rabbit hole you went down on your own.
This is crucial, because in most cases you won't get that cascading effect. You can teach them all night, and you probably can get them to espouse the truth you are saying to them. But you won't have fixed what made them a Liberal to begin with. They will forget how they were lied to instantly, they will still believe in the "ideas" of Woke Leftism and just then associate it with "bad actors" or "mistakes made by accident or ignorance."
If the idea doesn't come to them naturally, its unlikely most will ever truly swallow it down. That's why half of KIA1 was made up of Leftists making excuses for everything in front of them until the day the place became a shell of itself. Every bit of evidence was right there, they acknowledge the sheer extent of the lies and conspiracies they had already fallen for, but they could still deny all of it.

You mentioned an important factor.
You realized it, you had a passion filled desperate rabbit hole you went down on your own.
