But seriously, they're probably just upset at Mei Ling's chinese accent again. They even removed it for the Twin Snakes remake in 2004. It's not even played for laughs or anything, she just has an accent.
They could have just used the same audio from the PS1 game for Twin Snakes, but here's the thing...
The PS1 game's audio was all recorded in a rush, in a bare-bones apartment building that had barely any soundproofing.
Were they to just reuse the same raw audio files, the GameCube's superior audio hardware meant the player would have been able to hear the traffic outside.
So EVERYTHING had to be re-recorded.
Hayter, to his credit, cut his own usual rate in half so they could afford to bring back every single actor to reprise their roles--yes, even Mei Ling was voiced by the same woman, she just chose not to do the accent for whatever reason.
The one exception was the Cyborg Ninja voice, who was now being done by the legendary Rob Paulsen, though the original actor still kept his other role of the DARPA Chief.
And besides, the Mei Ling character was born and raised in America. There is no reason she should have a Chinese accent.

Can't say you're wrong but I find it hard to believe they'd leave that up to the actress. Surely they had a director? At the very least I'm blaming at least two people.
