I wonder who was in charge when they demolished a 100 year old cathedral in Moscow? Oh wait, it was Stalin. I'm not sure blessing a statue would even have been allowed under Stalin, but I'm going to go with probably not, being that atheism was the official Soviet position.
Inb4 it turns out to be a mecha, now blessed with holy damage
Russian Orthodox Church was infiltrated by KGB ex-members who only work for putin (including the Patriarch Kiril II, once known as agent Mikailov).
It is caesaropapism all over again.
Stalin actually studied to be a priest when he was a teenager.
Later he had a whole bunch of priests shot.
Did he fail? If he did that would be an interesting parallel with Hitler.
Stalin's history of priesthood is incredibly complicated and requires going through his history of education and family wishes. However, the short answer is that unlike Hitler who could barely get perspective right while applying to the Harvard of art schools, Stalin did fairly well in his time at Russian Orthodox Theological Seminary in Tiflis where he maintained high grades before simply losing interest.
Stalin just seems like a dude that just wanted power and was doing anything to get it. The story of how he rose is interesting though.
From what I could gather, him being a priest was more to fulfill a promise to his mother.
