This man never got Red Ringed and then told "nah, warranty time was only Last Wednesday until 3am Friday." When their only solution was "buy our new model at full price, it doesn't completely break down in a few months!"
That alone puts it in the "worst mainstream console of all time" bucket regardless of any other factor.
It was also the console that pulled off selling you access to your own internet for peer to peer multiplayer games. And then sony copied them next gen, and nintendo the gen after. Playing online on a console without a monthly subscription died because of those faggots. What a fucking dumpster fire.
Yeah, like most people here seem to have grown up with the 360 so they have lots of fond memories of it, and there were no doubt amazing games on it they even I loved.
But as a console and its effect on the industry it was absolutely disastrous and responsible for starting most of what is wrong right now. Let's not forget they literally forced Valve to charge for L4D maps instead of releasing them for free in order to not "set a bad precedent." Or that they were the console that allowed Horse Armor to kickstart cosmetic DLC instead of unlockables. Or the one that eliminated Memory Cards, destroying the ability for friend circle consoles and pushing it towards everyone needing to own one.
I'm still upset that I missed the chance to play Lost Odyssey, as it seemed like a good game and I paid that absurd extra cost Blockbuster was charging for games like it at the time, by mine going into its first RROD 10 minutes in.

My main memory of the console was:
> Hey let's play L4D LAN!
> Lugs out the spare monitor and something to put it on; eventually get everything set up
> OK finally ready to go!
> Now downloading updates: 0% of 20GB. Estimated time to complete: 90 minutes
Driving to the biggest Walmart at 1 in the morning to see if they have what you need because you were right in the middle of playing.

I just wrapped it in a towel, and it was k
