God responded in a century's-time by letting Emperor Hadrian squash their final revolt and scatter them to the world. Almost two Millennia later and they never learned, just repeatedly dug their heels deeper.
I'm not sure I buy the idea that the jews were looking to have a warrior king destroy Rome. Correct me if I'm wrong, but their issue was with him claiming he was King of The Jews, and as such was inherently blasphemous, since the institutions wouldn't recognize him. What's in the story to suggest they wanted someone more militant, or that they weren't intending to co-operate with Rome?
I don't get it. Why would any single Christian believe that Jews are "The Chosen". That seems kind of silly since they literally aren't following Christ (who is also technically God).
It was a rude awakening when I discovered premillennial dispensationalism was pretty much invented whole cloth in the late 19th century. That it is taken as undisputed truth by American Christians is really disconcerting.
I don't think that's right. I don't think that Christians are a "chosen people". They are simply a people who have come to accept God (as I understand it). There is nothing particularly special about Christians as a group except that they are following what God wanted. It's not that God chose them, it's that they chose God.
I know this is the wrong forum, but:

2000 years later, the pharisees have still learned nothing.

Comment Approved: I don't see how. This is at least the Christian narrative of the events.

Dispensationalist quackery promoted by the Scofield Bible and televangelists

Nah the Jews were chosen to have the Messiah born among them. They were also punished for being petulant and disobedient throughout history lol
