From a purely content (amount) stance, as well as a feature/usability stance, NexusMods is a superior website. Sadly, they decided to repeatedly megacuck. So the only reason anyone is looking at ModDB is as an alternative to that...but then they want to cuck too.
Having a massive site to host any mods is a good thing, but I suppose we'll have to go back to individually hosted mods at this rate, unless someone releases an alt-tech style mod hosting site. And that would probably quickly turn into a collection of Nazi mods, and 'look how many times we can say nigger' mods. Because that's often how alt-tech works, because the people who were kicked off the other platforms finally have a place to go. Also, the CIA is probably involved.
Seriously, though, from a purely user side of things, I just wish they hadn't fucked up Nexus so badly. Bastards.
NexusMods is only "superior" in so far as they are the household name for mods. Pretty much everyone uploads to NexusMods, so everyone uses NexusMods. Because everyone uses NexusMods, everyone uploads to NexusMods. Because everyone uploads to NexusMods, I end up going crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once. They locked me in a room. A rubber room. A rubber room with rats. The rats made me crazy. Crazy? I was crazy once...
Generally, the games with mods as bad as you say that barely work and take a shit ton to even get that far are already broken to begin with and the mods just reflect the shit code. I was able to teach myself to mod Darkest Dungeon because its a solidly and simply built game and that made it easy to mod top to bottom.
The Free Market made Bethesda one of the biggest video game companies despite them actively releasing nothing but barely functional broken games that they outsource fixing onto mods. So that isn't something missing from this problem.
I hate how they won't let us have nice things.
