Having not seen the movie, I can't speak to the full context, but I will say it always cracks me up when feminists (and SJWs, and ideologues in general) write stories, and somehow manage to make the Bad Guys look good, and the Good Guys look absolutely terrible. This is just proof how disconnected from reality they are.
Like, I'm not saying #AllWomen are bad, but leave it to a feminist writer trying to be Empowering™ to make a good argument for that. If all women were who feminists wanted them to be, all women would be terrible. Because the feminist ideal is an absolute monster.
They feel that getting to work on time, taking pride in your work, putting your family first, being responsible and the classic virtues are bad so that's how they write the 'evil' characters.
Classic example is Telltale's Walking Dead Season 2. Kenny is a family man with a big heart who manages to get over his lost family, remarry, and make a civilized home with lights and hot water during a zombie apocalypse. Randos show up who he opens his home to, their bad dealings cause him to lose his home and while defending these ingrates loses his eye.
Next day the femtagonist is like "look how he isn't instantly over losing his luxurious home, his eye, and getting stuck with some randos, he's just a racist no good broken hillbilly!" Then she pretends to kill a baby to make Kenny angry at her so she can point and say look how angry he is.
And I'm totally convinced the writers like most of liberal players thought she was the good character.
There's a recent movie called "1-up" about a team of girl gamers beating a men's team in a MOBA where every ordinary white male character was 1) written purely as a stereotype meant to be a villain or comic relief and 2) was unintentionally much more likable and correct than any of the main characters.
Hahaha!! Only in movies
The problem with writing for a political agenda that far divorced from reality is that you have to build such an airtight bubble of preparing for every perspective and message to avoid accidentally letting that reality slip in.
And if they had that much self awareness to be able to reach that level of control, they wouldn't have their beliefs to begin with.
Why now, whom and what does this remind me off? Hmm
