A predominately black movie is diverse

So it has to be mostly black because New Orleans is mostly black. I’d be fine with that logic if it applied across the board. Like I love pre diversity obsessed British television. Forgive me if I expect a quant British country town to not look like downtown NYC.
But diverse of course means no whites, then less men, then less straight ppl. I would fire this guy because writing good stories isn’t his goal. Also, Eddie Murphy was the lead in the last movie!!!
Reminds of of when the sad puppies started in sci-fi and wokeness really infested the sci-fi/fantasy community. This one feminist author said “ you just want to read a story about some white dudes exploring space”. Someone responded yes because that author is giving us a story about space exploration whereas you would write some diverse lesbian astronauts going into space but it’s all about being gay
NO is only about 58% black, so halfish. Its still 32% white. And that's relying on people's honesty and I can guarantee that a significant amount of those blacks aren't "black alone" as the census asks, but mixed something and they don't want to admit to being a light skinned nigga because that will get them bullied to hell.
The issue being, and what they won't ever admit to, is that the South is still mostly segregated. You will find entire sections of town that are black only or white only, with the larger percentages just increasing the amount of neighborhoods for each. So you can walk through NO and find literally only white people if you pick the right neighborhood, and vice versa.
So it loops around to being realistic for reasons they won't acknowledge. That the blacks don't want to live near the whites and build their own ghettos to keep segregated.
The director used that as his justification for having a mostly black cast. I was quoting him. I’ve only been to New Orleans once for a jazz festival. It was fun but I wouldn’t want to live there. Where I live in Texas it’s about 60 percent white and the rest is a mix of black/white/Asian.
I was just throwing out some perspective for anyone who cares. Because its a phrase that is technically true, but very devoid of context and clearly written by someone who lives in a big blue metropolitan city instead of Louisiana.
Also New Orleans ain't worth going to, mostly because its more than half black. The tourist areas get all the protection and cops and clean up to make money, all the while there are dozens upon dozens of hoodrats waiting in every alley for a dumb drunk tourist to wander too far and get jumped, robbed, raped, or all of the above. Anything outside the tourist spots is a run down shithole that is barely above a dilapidated shanty town.
The jazz festival was in a safe area but I could easily see I would not want to live there. I can download all the jazz I want from the safety of my home lol
Guess we have the “watch this movie or you’re racist” to look forward to
It's worse. What happens with double-speak like this is people will accept the nominal definition but internalize the conflicting meaning, connotation, or feelings. Then they will become a vector for spreading the idea, themselves pushing for things to be all Black while calling them "diverse" and not at all realizing the contradiction. By misusing language this way it conditions other people into doublethink, which is a learned mental behavior that becomes easier the more you do it. An entire culture can be poisoned and corrupted this way.
This is such an ancient Leftist concept and problem that South Park had an entire episode mocking it well over a decade ago, but with "minority."
Words have no meaning, they only have connotations. And those are how they will be used against you. And its why no amount of "definitions" or "gotchas!" ever will matter to them.
Agreed, but I'd say its alleged meaning and its actual meaning are a contradiction.
One of the main tactics of leftists is stealing words that have a perfectly good meaning and transforming them without letting normal people know.
