LOL. In my admittedly anecdotal experience, “trans ‘women’ shouldn’t be in women’s sports” is the issue where I can see friends and colleagues of all political stripes agree the most. I’ve got friends who think this person is a woman and friends who are not afraid to say this person is a man, but who all agree it isn’t right for this person to compete against women. The trans in sports issue is probably the losingest left-wing issue in terms of societal acceptance. The left may have all but completed it’s march through our institutions (despite some encouraging recent signs of pushback), but trannies in women’s sports is still beyond the even vanguard of their movement.
Because having men in women sports is anti-women. Men will jump to defend women and women will not be ok for obvious reasons. On the other hand we still have a lot of women defending trans in sports.
20 years ago the most left-wing people I knew would have made fun of trannies and now they're analysts on Fox News. In 10 years that trannie swimmer will be on Fox News taking issue with pre-birth surgery or gene therapy or some shit like that as "a step too far".
Today Auron Macintyre had Chris Rufo on as his guest. Rufo's closing statement was that yes we absolutely need to keep men out of women's bathrooms... but there should be some legal standard where we say if a transgender woman "passes" as a woman, then it's ok.
So in 10 years it will be Chris Rufo playing as a conservative host on FNC with the trannie swimmer as his guest. Fair and balanced!
Yeah and you get that James Lindsay idiot who pretends to be some "dissident" by telling the actual right-wingers...exactly what they've been hearing from the left for at least the past 30 years: they need to stop being "anti-gay" bigots and that ship has sailed and legalizing it was one of the great "human rights" victories of our time and the right will never win elections by saying they don't want the gays around their kids.
With "friends" like that...
