Gurren Lagann is one of my favorite anime of all time.
If it were to be dubbed today, I GUARANTEE Leeron would be voiced by an actual flaming homosexual and not by Steve Blum acting very unlike most of his other roles.
It's part laziness and the other part is an attempt at ensuring the industry is only full of people with the same ideology to create hegemony as even if you don't believe it, you ONLY got in because of your minority status so know your place.
I was actually once stopped in a restaurant and told I had a great voice for radio--by someone at the next table who claimed to work for a local radio station.
It’s like they saw that episode of South Park where Cartman was tricked into thinking he’d become a ginger. He suddenly become militantly pro-ginger, which includes terrorizing an actress playing Annie because she’s not an actual redhead. Apparently, a lot of liberals saw that behavior and said “yes! That’s how I should be!”
Of course, in 2014 we got the Annie movie with a black actress as the titular character, so whatever.
It just now occurred to me:

Again:
No one is allowed to ACT anymore.
Acting is hard, just get (insert minority) to do it than an actor willing to research a part to this degree

It's similar to Affirmative action in education.
Doesn't matter how well you research or act if the casting director says "Cool, but you're white. NEXT!"
It's why I quit my voiceover dreams.
Damn shame, best bet is to not give up but do something independent.
Seen more popularity in online comic dubs so as long as you ask permission of the author this is always a possible route for your passion
Thanks, I appreciate it.

I kid you not. I wish I could prove it.
