Do most Canadians still believe their health care is world-class?
Seems like the cat is out of the bag on that one, although I'm sure many of them still lie to themselves about it. And many more would never admit its shit, especially not to an American.
The thing is the US is right next door, so it's the go-to comparison. Every European country has better universal health care than Canada, and they're paying significantly less per capita for it, but Canadians are endlessly propagandized with stories about Americans having to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars out of their own pocket for cancer treatment. I know it's not true, but most people up here believe it. As much as they bitch about the Canadian health care system, the follow-up is always, "But at least we're better off than the States."
Some do. More realistically they only really compare their health care to the US, and simply conclude that, because it's "free" (of course meaning socialized and part of why taxes are so high), it's automatically better than the US health care system.
I'm not going to say the US system is perfect or even particularly good, but at least if you have a moderate to major problem and aren't immediately dying you have the opportunity to receive care in a timely manner. Have a crippling back problem that requires surgery? In Canada, you can easily be waiting 2+ years for anything to be done about it.

Bro my healthcare is definitely world class. Just look at my provinces' partnership with the World Economic Forum! https://www.albertahealthservices.ca/news/Page15540.aspx
