Bridge-the-gap alimony may be awarded to provide support to a party in making the transition from being married to being single... bridge-the-gap alimony may not exceed 2 years.

Rehabilitative alimony may be awarded to assist a party in establishing the capacity for self-support... The length of an award of rehabilitative alimony may not exceed 5 years.

Durational alimony may not be awarded following a marriage lasting less than 3 years... An award of durational alimony may not exceed 50 percent of the length of a short-term marriage, 60 percent of the length of a moderate-term marriage, or 75 percent of the length of a long-term marriage.

Consider the possible liability a man must shoulder for the common case divorce with a median length of first marriages ending in divorce is ~13 years, with men being aged ~43 at that point.

That would fall under the moderate-term marriage, per this law:

• 2 years of Bridge-the-gap alimony
• 5 years of Rehabilitative alimony
• 8 years of Durational alimony

15 fucking years of payments for a 13 year long marriage.

Not including child support, if there are any kids, for which there is NO assumption of shared custody in Florida.
