With the fog of war taken into account, looks like the 'Western intelligence' got played. The whole stunt seems to have been to root out all inside threats to Russia and been smokescreen to move forces into better positions.
The fact that neither the leader or mercenaries are getting anything done to them and that it's quickly business as usual means they were on Putin's side the whole time so this was a play to dupe both traitors and enemy intelligence.
It's because, contrary to what slavish Ukraine Flag In Profile NPCs believe, most of us don't really support either side. I'm very much not pro Ukraine, but I'm apathetic towards Russia. I don't care enough about the war to even attempt to wade through the disinfo campaigns in order to figure out what's going on.
As such, I take most of what I hear through an objective lens. The western regime and its useful idiots are 100% subjective all the time, so they discard any information that doesn't fit their views. They also have a tendency to wildly hallucinate any time anyone says anything even mildly critical of Ukraine.
i don't care what either side does on the other side of the planet
i don't want to die an irradiated death for the money laundering fake country
Probably because we're not retarded and can't even say what a woman is.
They are trapped within a bad framework.
There was a lot of this kind of shit with "Soviet Studies" too.
Back in the day, these are the same people who would be informed by the New York Times about the innerworkings of Moscow, and would have no idea that there even was a Holodomor. Nor that ethnic were battling with other ethnic groups in the Comintern to institutionally discriminate against other ethnic groups. Poles, Muskovites, Kyevan Rus, Khazacks, Georgians, everybody was kind of at each other's throats.
The Soviet Union basically fell because the Estonians discovered the Molotov-Ribbentrop Pact in a museum in DC, and realized that the Russians never prevented the Nazis from invading, but were actually allowed by Hitler to invade and occupy Estonia because of the public alliance that no in the East heard about in time.
If you had asked anybody in the US in 1984 "How long does the Soviet Union have left?", not a single solitary soul would have told you "5 years". The most optimistic, Reaganite, anti-Communist would have said "50 years".
