I have peacock for the old old shows and WWE network and I saw a commercial for pride month (which of course is everywhere) one movie clip showed this teenage girl (the beacons of all knowledge according to modern Hollywood) in a church talking to a pastor or something and accusing the church of emotional abuse for teaching her to hate herself.
One thing in the Bible Jesus clearly states is that you will be hated and I love the idea that it’s emotional abuse to not affirm someone’s lifestyle. By all means if you don’t like what the bible says then go do what you want. The church has been condemning many behaviors for a long time. So if I cheat on my spouse and my pastor says I’m committing a sin I can just call it emotional abuse.
Gotta love the narcissist mentality that the Bible must change to suit you.
I’d respect someone more if they just said the Bible I’d full of fairy tales and went off and did their own things. I have struggles and temptation in life but I’m not going to try and justify them.
When the woke cult uses the bible.
Leftists all love John 8:7 - 11, focusing on Jesus not condemning her, pretending it's acceptance, but they always leave out last part of "and sin no more".
Very true. Or during pride month I’ve heard “Jesus never says anything about homosexuality”. What cracks me up is that they acknowledge other parts of the Bible do mention it but they disregard it. Jesus clearly defines marriage as a man and woman and he says he fulfills the law. Also when he dined with sinners he called them to a better life. He didn’t affirm them
He also notes that the Old Law still applies, which clearly states in Leviticus 22: 13:
Many Rainbow Reich apostates swear by their own rhetoric that that is somehow a misinterpretation and it only refers to incest, but it's pretty clear that it doesn't. If you read the hermeneutics about that scripture they have to jump through a novel's-worth of hoops to try to reinterpret it as anything other than what it clearly states.
But obviously there's also the complete nuking of Sodom and Gomorrah for its practice of homosexuality, and the obvious point you made about marriage being a holy matrimony of man and woman. There's also multiple scriptures, such as first Corinthians 6:10...
I've had one Liberal Christian attempt to debate the accuracy of the translations because he supported the Rainbow Reich, but when I hit him with Romans 1 18: 32, he bowed out and said he wasn't going to debate the topic anymore.
Romans 18:32 makes it pretty clear in no uncertain terms that homosexuality is considered a sin and people will be punished for it if they keep to pursuing that lifestyle. Well worth a read here if you plan on using it the next time some Lefty attempts to say the Bible condones homosexuality: https://biblia.com/bible/esv/romans/1/18-32
Stop giving NBC money
And if you truly show Christian love that involves being truthful. I’ve had my brothers and sisters in Christ call me out in things in a loving way. Sucks to hear but I’m a better man for it.
No church would be okay with raping children, stealing from the collection plate, committing egregious fraud on their own congregations, or any such things that they have done in the past, and will do in the future.
Emotional abuse really does happen, and is a real thing with or without churches. I have no idea about this person's case. They are likely mistaking shame for abuse, like our society normally does.
I have no idea why some of you seem to have no grasp on the idea that a church goer, specifically pastors, could be violent manipulative, abusive, freaks; wearing a collar to protect them from the crimes they commit on those who trust them. Honestly, there's a whole segment of society that treats God as the head narcissist. It's like you've never met those people. IDK. I've met them several times, and it's why I don't trust the concept of God to be maintained by a church. Too great a liklihood that a real fucking lunatic will be granted institutional power.
Church has the same problem that The Science does, not science. This is why I don't necessarily trust institutional The Science rather than the scientific method.
I was pointing out in that clip that the lady was saying that the church not affirming her homosexuality was emotional abuse. Definitely agree there are bad pastors and emotional abuse can happen. I was just pointing out that instance.
Yes, not affirming homosexuality is never abuse.
Now I’ve been guilty of being harsh with gay people or treating them like lesser beings and I shouldn’t have done that. You can be honest while showing love.
I mean, that's fine and all. All I'm saying is that lack of affirmation is only abuse if it actually extends to neglect: like if you refuse to refer to your son as your son, by default, his entire life (not as a result of something he did).
Not saying: "I'm so happy you're gay" is never abuse.
Makes sense
