While accurate, you have to recognize that this speech is not made in good faith. He's a smart man and recognizes the gaps in western culture where one can stick a prybar in.
Part of his justification for the invasion of Ukraine was that the contested regions contained "ethnic russians" that belonged under his rule. And then when they didn't want to submit, he just killed them and shipped their children off to reeducation camps. They've padded out their army with murderers and rapists dumped from the prison system.
This is not a spiritual leader or great thinker. He's just a politician with unfettered power. His speech is just a hill climbing algorithm that says what provides the most immediate benefit to himself.
Ukraine is on Russia’s literal border. He doesn’t need a justification past the NATO military buildup right on his border. America would never ever allow China or Russia to buildup military resources in Mexico in the same way. And the Iraq war alone completely obliterates any American credibility to complain in the first place.
And about your observations that Putin’s speech isn’t made in good faith and he’s putting a prybar in western culture and he’s not a spiritual leader or great thinker blah blah blah…. Who cares? These just come across as petty insults. EVERY world leader is an asshole who’s “speech is a hill-climbing algorithm”. You don’t make it through the gauntlet of elections without being one. The fact that he’s making a speech like this at all puts him leagues ahead of any western politician. And if he WAS actually trying to pry apart western culture, he’s being pretty nice about it in the speech, couching it in the terms of a helpful warning. I also wanted to mention, wouldn’t he be JUSTIFIED after the way he’s been treated by western politicians? Joe Biden has openly called for his removal and state department hacks openly plot for regime change in Russia.
Like for the love of god, if you were picking a team captain you’d obviously go with Putin over Biden.
As the USSR was imploding, an Envoy from Bush I gave a verbal promise that the US would not encourage NATO expansion eastward if Gorbachev allowed the reunification of Germany.
Because this was not formalized into some sort of treaty, it gave the US and its NATO yard niggers the balls to bring more Eastern European nations into the alliance. The noises made about Ukrainian membership is presumably what led Putin to invade.
Remember the whole purpose of NATO was the "defense" of Europe against Soviet expansion west. Now, of course, they claim to be about "exporting democracy," which simply means "expanding the US sphere of influence."
The idea that NATO was about to roll tanks up to moscow through ukraine is an insane russian propaganda story and I am empathically embarrassed for you for repeating it. Russia seized ukrainian territory in crimea. So they built up their military in case russia tried it again - which they did. And even so, every western analyst thought ukraine would fold in days. They barely made it.
Putin has repeatedly falsely equivocated russian imperial conquest with countries voluntarily joining nato. He calls people voting to join nato "expansionist". Voting is violence, military invasion is for peace.
NATO does not conscript countries by force. Russia does. On the regular. Since the war, two more countries have made the move to join because they're afraid of being invaded. NATO is an organization formed to defend against russian aggression. That's it. Imagine being such a mother fucker that everyone has to join a self defense organization just against you.
As far as Putin vs Biden. Well, at least Biden understands the concept of soft power (or he did before going senile). Biden is corrupt and stupid, Putin just kills people. Speak against him and you're falling out a window, or drinking polonium or getting novochok on your door. Have a weak country and you're getting conquered.

It doesn't matter what scenario you have in mind, letting NATO expand closer to your border is stupid on the part of Russia. People like you keep trying to say NATO is irrelevant to Russia's security posture when that's just not the case. If Ukraine is irrelevant to Russia then NATO would not be looking to add it. Please spare me the notion this is altruistic on the part of Western countries and we just want to protect poor widdle Ukraine.

No, we just prefer to use softer power like assassinating leaders we don't like, staging coups, or supporting fascist guerrillas like we did in South America generally, Nicaragua, Iran, and Ukraine itself.
Or we just invade the country like Russia. Did you even read the point about Iraq?
Biden is corrupt and stupid, Putin just kills people.
As if the system backing a figurehead like Biden hasn't killed Americans before. What do you think Killary means? Who do you think killed JFK?
Let’s not forget about Seth Rich either.
But yeah, the lack of ability for people to empathize with geopolitical actors is shocking to me. There’s no other country out there acting as malignantly idiotic as the US and the west (aka the US vassal states). Can you imagine if Russia or China was pulling the sort of military and economic BS that we do? Devaluing the world reserve currency, sanctioning other countries in the name of sodomy, drone striking civilian noncombatants, blowing up undersea pipelines…. The western press would be beside themselves ranting about the evil and depravity of these countries. It’s just hypocrisy.
For the record I don’t hate America, I hate the fucking gangster Jews that run it.
