TBH, I can't recall how bad PCMag was as far as being a propaganda outlet and uncritical corporate bootlicker. Is it possible this is a bad thing?

He says things like "it's killing our ability to regularly have the intelligent and meaningful conversations that help games and players grow" and also things like "fanboy misinformation" and also "muh capitalism bad' and he calls his own opinions "expert criticism" . He's woke

The second part, of course, is that game journalists did this to themselves. What do you suppose the distribution of actual gamers to activists is? How many articles have we seen that are just people attempting to limply apply critical theory to games? Game journalists developed an extremely distorted view of their worth, and they decided that they could use the platform to bully developers, players, and basically anyone who didn't toe the line. Now they're being replaced by YouTubers and individuals who actually like games. Good riddance, nature is healing.

From the comment section. Spot on. The industry dove deep into the excesses of critical activism which is actually incredibly unpopular among your average Joes despite being the going thing among academics and self-described “sophisticated” people. When their product became incredibly unpopular as a result, the activist-journalists retroactively claim they were just doing normal journalism, and since they’re so deep in the critical activist cult, some of them might even really believe that, while others are more cynical and know that’s a lie. But people whose money is actually on the line in relation to the product weren’t going to hemorrhage money forever, and I’m sure the activist-journalists will blame them for not being awake to the value of activist journalism, even as they claim elsewhere to have only been doing standard informative journalism. What a mess.

Classic motte and bailey.

We honestly need real journalism now more than ever, given the state of information control and media manipulation. But I can count the number of real journalists on maybe one hand, and one of those fingers is literally imprisoned by the global cabal.

Here is his tweet. Looks like it was discovered in the past 24 hours, because he disabled replies since.
