From the comment section. Spot on. The industry dove deep into the excesses of critical activism which is actually incredibly unpopular among your average Joes despite being the going thing among academics and self-described “sophisticated” people. When their product became incredibly unpopular as a result, the activist-journalists retroactively claim they were just doing normal journalism, and since they’re so deep in the critical activist cult, some of them might even really believe that, while others are more cynical and know that’s a lie. But people whose money is actually on the line in relation to the product weren’t going to hemorrhage money forever, and I’m sure the activist-journalists will blame them for not being awake to the value of activist journalism, even as they claim elsewhere to have only been doing standard informative journalism. What a mess.
Classic motte and bailey.
We honestly need real journalism now more than ever, given the state of information control and media manipulation. But I can count the number of real journalists on maybe one hand, and one of those fingers is literally imprisoned by the global cabal.
