Did I write it was me? No I didn't, what is it with people on the internet who just make shit up about a person they're directly confronting when the post history is available for people to see? I was posting in general, I don't think there were that many people who were obsessed with him or anything but even in his own movement they did unnecessarily put him on a pedestal.
If we’re speaking about literal worship, no one. If we’re speaking about cope where people say that big mistakes are actually all part of a plan, that was definitely a big thing on TD when I used it. It’s what ultimately drove me away.
Also, what absurdity is this:
Who did you see that engaged in Trump worship that wasn't basically recruited by QAnon?
You just disallowed the entire population of people u/Lethn is complaining about. “Who did you see engaged in Trump worship aside from the surprisingly large and active community that still insists all is playing out according to plan?” Gee, I don’t know, why shouldn’t I count those guys exactly?
Unless you’re alleging that those people didn’t exist before Q, in which case I can assure you that “[ineffective appointee] is actually a great choice who’s secretly fixing everything behind the scenes” was a thing from the moment Trump took office. Whether Q is an intentional psyop or a schizo who actually believes, or just a troll, it worked because people that want to believe Trump is the most brilliant 4D chess playing genius the world has ever seen were already plentiful within the MAGA camp, not because it recruited them from outside of it.
Depends what you mean by "worship." His core fans rationalize his blunders, but most of us trying to find some light in the darkness vote for Trump because he's so far the only proven opponent to the bureaucratic state and especially the government/corporate media axis of evil. The fact that they're still hounding him, trying to railroad him into the klink, is his greatest endorsement as far as I'm concerned.
My hope is that, as a second-term lame duck, any restraint he may have felt in his first term will be gone.
For this I am even willing to ignore his absolutely vain, idiotic vaporing about his vaccine "success" and his deployment of the MOAB.
Yeah, that's actually pretty much how I feel; I will vote for him again, but mostly because every other choice is seriously worse and there's still a chance that Trump is at least well-intentioned and can score some victories. I also would consider DeSantis, but I have a hard time seriously believing he intends to run this time around.
I discount those people because the Boomer Numerology crew was always a silly minority. And I would argue that many of those people were not rabid Trump supporters, they were just regular Trump supporters whom were groomed by some Fed Gay Op into becoming what they ended up as.
Well, it's good to know that you discount exactly the group OP is complaining about when considering if OP's arguments have merit. Of course they're "a minority," but that's not what he said now, is it? You know that TD's top two rules boil down to "don't make serious complaints about or criticisms of Trump"? I'm not saying I don't understand why they have those, but it's impossible to ignore that the entire forum is structured, by definition, around ignoring and downplaying Trump's mistakes as not material to the effectiveness of the man. Again, this doesn't mean that everyone there is totally unaware of Trump's flaws, or even that no one there ever mentions those flaws there, but it is a commitment to ignoring some awful large elephants.
A good few of the MAGA types were not keeping Trump honest, the current opposition, the non-neo con types were not confronting Trump as much as they should have over his deals with neo-cons.
If they had done they would have been able to keep Trump in line and also be effective opposition. Instead during the midterms they grew extremely complacent especially with regards to the tactics the democrats were using. Trump endorsed utterly shit candidates like Dr.Oz and if they had the balls to call him out and field their own candidate the republicans might not have lost that ridiculous race.
Populists can't defeat Trump because populists are not bigger than Trump within the Republican Party. Trump is an avatar of populism within the party itself. Populists can't field their own candidates in defiance of both Trump and the establishment. You might as well vote libertarian and hope for the best (or really just move to New Hampshire).
I wish Steve Bannon was helping to run Trump's campaign, but unfortunately I don't get to make that call.

Most of the people on The Donald didn't engage in Trump worship (in a non-satirical way).

Nowadays it seems obvious that the whole Qanon deranged bullshit was some group's version of the Soviet Union's Operation Trust.
